Kickstarting Quite Literally – Neeman’s Success Story

neeman's success story

Neeman’s – Origins

Neeman’s was established in December 2018 by shoe aficionados Taran Chhabra and Amar Preet Singh, and it was born out of a personal quest to find a multi-purpose all-day shoe.

In this article, we will talk about Neeman’s success story.

When Neeman’s founder Taran was planning a trip to Spain in 2016, he found himself carrying a suitcase just for his shoes. He even had to carry an extra pair in case the need for it arose. This led to him searching for a pair that would take care of all his needs. Needless to say, he couldn’t find the pair of shoes he was looking for.

What followed was Taran meeting people to figure out the reason they carried so many pairs. The underlying cause that came forth was comfort. People had a preference for comfortable shoes that they could wear throughout the day. The brothers decided to come together and help bridge the gap by making available comfortable footwear that can be worn all day. Further, it would also be eco-friendly.

Thus the journey of Neeman’s success story unfolded, and there was no looking back. And in December 2018, the brand came into existence. An interesting fact – the name given to the brand, Neeman’s, is a combination of the duo’s parents’ names — Neelam and Manjeet.

Neeman’s is India’s sole footwear brand that uses only natural, renewable, recycled, and biodegradable fibers for making its shoes. Taran, Neeman’s founder, and CEO leads the R&D department, and Amar is the co-founder and COO at Neeman’s.

Neeman’s Business Model:

Neeman’s has positioned itself as a B2C model and is on the eCommerce bandwagon. Neeman’s entire range of footwear is available on Neeman’s website.

Neeman’s products are also available for ordering on other eCommerce platforms like Flipkart and Amazon. Recently, the products are also available in brick-and-mortar stores such as Shoppers Stop and Lifestyle.

There is a 7-day risk-free trial period during which the customers can return the product if they find it unsatisfactory for any reason, and have it replaced with any other item of their choice.

Neeman’s Turnover:

In the financial year 2020-21, Neeman’s turnover generated stands at INR 50 crore according to Moneycontrol. Neeman’s funding has grown manifold as they have managed to further raise quite a few rounds of funding, including an angel round of $1 million from Anicut Capital and Series A funding valued at $2.7 million from Sixth Sense Ventures.

Conclusion:

Neeman’s is blazing a trail, with both, their range of eco-friendly shoes that are made of recycled pet bottled among other renewable resources. They have also launched woolen shoes, thus breaking the myth that products made of wool are only suited for winters.

The wool they use is sourced from Australia and is lightweight, breathable, and moisture-wicking. The Merino Wool that Neeman uses is developed in collaboration with Woolmark, a renowned supplier of Australian wool.

With their sustained attempts at launching better and more sustainable products, it is sure that only more success will follow.
